Sean O’Reilly worked full-time with the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland from 2008 until 2011. He worked on communication and implementation of the National Framework of Qualifications and led activities relating to the implementation of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) in Ireland. In this role, he coordinated the development of a national online database of education & training programmes; participated in the steering group for initial implementation of the Europe-wide EQF Portal; and represented Ireland in a number of European groups.
He continues to work in this area as a consultant and has provided expertise for a number of NQF referencing / comparison activities; delivered presentations and workshops in Europe, the Middle East and South America; undertaken country research for a number of CEDEFOP publications; supported migration of training programmes to learning outcomes; and conducted research on implementation of related lifelong learning instruments.
